Minister’s Statement on Administrative Reforms

On November 27, Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra spoke with VietNamNet, detailing the Ministry of Home Affairs’ commitment to optimizing administrative frameworks to improve operational effectiveness. This initiative follows the guidance of the Politburo and General Secretary To Lam.

These efforts align with the directives set out by the 13th Central Committee, which identifies the restructuring of administrative systems as a significant revolutionary objective that requires cohesive understanding and collaboration across the Party and governmental bodies.

As noted by Minister Tra, the initial phases focus on restructuring at the central level. Changes at the provincial level will be approached subsequently, with no immediate plans for merging local administrative units.

Vu Dang Minh, the Chief of Office and spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, highlighted that all restructuring plans are currently in a confidential research and preparation stage. He cautioned against the sharing of false information online, which breaches regulations on state confidentiality.

“Legal action will be taken against any violations,” Minh stated, emphasizing that the Ministry has called on the Ministry of Public Security and cyber authorities to investigate and mitigate the spread of misinformation that could adversely affect public perception.
