Starting January 1, 2025, Vietnamese drivers will receive notifications about traffic violations through the VNeTraffic app. This implementation is based on Circular 73/2024/TT-BCA from the Ministry of Public Security.
The Circular states that if a vehicle is caught violating traffic rules but cannot be pulled over for immediate action, authorities are required to identify the driver and vehicle owner within 10 days. This process will utilize various databases, including the National Vehicle Registration Database and the National Population Database.
If the person responsible lives outside the district jurisdiction of the police who noticed the violation, the evidence will be sent to the local police station of the violator for further action. Should the local station lack adequate network capabilities, the case will be escalated to the district police where the violator resides or is registered.
Violators will be informed either through official documents or electronically via the VNeTraffic app, allowing them to manage violations easily without needing to travel unnecessarily.
This app, operated by the Ministry of Public Security, will present drivers with comprehensive records of their violations, detailing vehicle type, license plate, time and location of the incident, nature of the violation, and contact information for further inquiries.
The VNeTraffic app will grant users access to their violation history, helping them stay aware of their driving-related issues. It combines various technical and infrastructure systems for seamless data sharing, enhancing user experience.
Moreover, violation details will be available on the official website of the Traffic Police Department and through the app. This level of transparency allows all stakeholders, including vehicle owners and organizations, to tackle administrative tasks more efficiently.
This initiative is part of a larger vision to modernize Vietnam’s traffic management framework, enhance clarity, and simplify the handling of traffic violations.
