A Japanese parliamentary delegation recently evaluated projects at Bach Mai Hospital to determine their effectiveness and provide support for upgrading the hospital’s emergency center, known as A9.
Director of Bach Mai Hospital, Associate Prof Dao Xuan Co, acknowledged the significant support from the Japanese government over the years, particularly in enhancing the hospital’s capabilities and workforce quality.
Bach Mai Hospital proposed the construction of a comprehensive emergency center with Japanese assistance, aiming to establish the largest facility of its kind in Southeast Asia, offering a wide range of emergency services efficiently.
The envisioned 9-storey center aims to accommodate 600-800 patients daily, serving as a crucial hub for the medical system in the northern region by linking various healthcare facilities and emergency services.
The multi-purpose emergency center is expected to play a key role in advancing emergency medicine, professional collaboration, and research, both nationally and internationally.
A9 center, under the guidance of Associate Prof Nguyen Anh Tuan, currently attends to 300-350 patients daily from many cities and provinces, supported by a network of 5,000 emergency doctors for consultation and coordination.
With 3,600 beds, Bach Mai Hospital treats a substantial number of patients annually, providing not only medical care but also training and remote assistance to emergency units across different regions.
In a recent development, Bach Mai Hospital has extended its hours for patient consultations, now offering services from 5 pm to 9 pm.
