From Italian giving baskets to recreated masterpieces, these are the things that brought us joy today.

Welcome to #NotBadNews, our new (and hopefully short-lived) daily column where we round up the good, surprising, and weird things that have happened around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.

Getty’s At-Home Art Assignment

Los Angeles’ Getty Museum has given us a challenge, and it’s pretty simple: Pick a favorite painting, scour your house for related objects, and recreate the image. The submissions have been masterpieces of their own.

Like we said yesterday, in times of quarantine, we’re always welcoming of a challenge.

Your Favorite Bedtime Stories Read by Your Favorite Celebrities

America’s beloved country star Dolly Parton has decided to pursue a career in book voicing. The “Jolene” singer is launching “Goodnight with Dolly”, where, every night at 7 p.m., she’ll be reading a children’s book from her Imagination Library.

And for the child who just can’t seem to get some shut-eye, actor Samuel L. Jackson has the perfect book.

Well, perhaps it’s more perfect for the parent who needs a laugh. We’ll let the children stick to Parton’s bedtime reads.

The Photo That Could Win You $500

Explorest is giving their Instagram followers a chance to flex their photography skills and win some cash, and creativity is name of the game. Figure out a way to capture the most unique picture while in quarantine, and that money could be yours!

There are still three more days to submit, so if winning $500 is something that interests you, it’s time to get snapping.

The Italian Giving Basket

The Coronavirus has not just affected people’s health, but also their finances. For many, this pandemic has resulted in either cut hours or job loss entirely. Seeing how it has hurt their own neighbors, Italians have put their best philanthropic foot forward to help those financially suffering.

Starting a collection basket, those with the means to do so are asked to put in food and money, and those in need of either are welcome to take from it!

These neighbors coming together to ensure that their friends, and even strangers, have enough to get by has to be our favorite news of the day.

Check-in every day for an update on the wonderful and weird things happening in our current coronavirus world.
