Prosecution and Detention of Deputy Le Thanh Van Approved by National Assembly

National Assembly approves prosecution and detention of deputy Le Thanh Van

Furthermore, Deputy Le Thanh Van’s role and authority as a National Assembly member have been temporarily halted.

The decision to authorize the prosecution, temporary detention, and search of the home and workplace of Deputy Le Thanh Van was announced by National Assembly Secretary General Bui Van Cuong.

On July 10, the National Assembly Standing Committee adopted resolution 1090, allowing for the prosecution, temporary detention, and search of the residence and workplace of Le Thanh Van, a permanent member of the National Assembly’s Finance and Budget Committee, and a deputy of the 15th National Assembly. This decision is effective immediately upon the prosecution ruling.

Born in 1964 in Thanh Hoa province, Le Thanh Van has held the position of National Assembly deputy for the 13th, 14th, and 15th terms. He has also served as a permanent member of the National Assembly Finance and Budget Committee during the 14th and 15th terms.
