Sonny Side, a popular YouTuber with 10.7 million subscribers, is known for exploring different cultures and cuisines during his travels. He recently shared his love for Vietnamese cuisine, particularly pho, after residing in Vietnam for quite some time.
Having sampled various versions of pho across different regions in Vietnam, Sonny and his friend Calvin visited a restaurant in HCM City to try their special lobster pho.
This restaurant has been a local favorite for two decades, renowned for its Vietnamese and Asian dishes, with lobster pho being a standout dish on the menu.
Years ago, the restaurant gained recognition when former US President Bill Clinton dined there during his visit to Vietnam.
Having previously tried the lobster pho in 2018, Sonny decided to revisit to see if there were any changes in the flavor profile.
During their visit, Sonny and Calvin ordered two servings of lobster pho, priced at $39 per serving. The owner, Dao, explained the ingredients and preparation process of the dish before serving.
The flavorful broth is made from simmered fish bones and shrimp shells, infused with spices like cinnamon, lemongrass, and star anise, giving the pho its unique taste.
Unlike traditional pho served in a bowl, the lobster pho is presented in a deep plate. The chef prepares the noodles, bean sprouts, fresh cuttlefish, tofu, oyster, and adds the broth. A fresh lobster is then placed on top of the dish.
Calvin was impressed by the presentation of the dish even before tasting it, while Sonny found the lobster to be fresh and delicious.
