As of September 7 at 5:30 pm, Typhoon Yagi has caused multiple maritime accidents, leading to the disappearance of 13 crew members.
The National Committee for Disaster Response and Search and Rescue (Ministry of Defense) has reported various sea incidents caused by the typhoon.
A crane ship, Tien Thanh 05, owned by Quang Ninh Logistic Trading Joint Stock Company, and carrying seven crew members, went missing while seeking shelter in Vung Duc – Cam Pha in Quang Ninh.
Furthermore, two other ships belonging to the same company, Tien Thanh 02 and Tien Thanh 03, with around ten people on board each, have drifted and stranded at Dolphin Palace in Ha Long City.
The tugboat Hong Gai, operated by Quang Ninh Port Joint Stock Company, also disappeared with seven crew members while taking shelter in the Bo Nau cave area.
Following these incidents, the rescue vessel Ha Long 08 has found one body, while six crew members from the Hong Gai tugboat remain missing.
In Hai Phong, an unnamed fishing boat with a single crew member experienced engine failure and is adrift near Van Boi – Cat Ba.
Efforts to reach the vessel have been unsuccessful, but the nearby rescue ship CSB9004 is ready to assist once weather conditions permit.
Hai Phong and Quang Ninh have faced power outages and significant damage, including collapsed roofs and ruined signage.
At Co To harbor, five cement-hulled ships and one wooden ship have sunk, and multiple other vessels have drifted from their berths.
The National Committee for Disaster Response and Search and Rescue has deployed a large team consisting of military and local militia members, along with vehicles and boats, to aid in the response and recovery operations.
