Situated over 140 kilometers from Hoi An, Tak Po Peak, located in Tra Tap Commune of Nam Tra My District, is an emerging tourist spot in Quang Nam. Its unspoiled green scenery and unique charm attract visitors seeking a peaceful retreat.
In contrast to well-known places like Hoi An or My Son Sanctuary, Tak Po Peak remains relatively obscure. Yet, travelers who have experienced it rave about its restorative atmosphere, making it perfect for unwinding.
Photographer Nguyen Thanh Cuong from Hue told VietNamNet that he was deeply impressed by Tak Po’s natural scenery, especially the breathtaking sea of clouds he encountered on his first visit.
“This is the finest spot for cloud watching I’ve ever visited,” Cuong remarked.
Previously, he has explored cloud-hunting locations in Ta Xua (Son La), Da Lat (Lam Dong), Quang Tri, and Quang Ngai.
Cuong advises potential visitors to pay attention to weather forecasts to successfully view the clouds at Tak Po Peak. After a light rain the previous afternoon, a stunning sea of clouds is likely to appear the next morning.
“You can either visit for a day or set up camp for an overnight experience. I arrived in the afternoon, camped overnight, and witnessed the clouds at dawn,” he shared.
Cuong mentioned that this camping area is still largely untouched, allowing him to deeply enjoy the serene beauty and isolation of Quang Nam’s mountains and forests.
However, due to a lack of tourism facilities at Tak Po Peak, visitors must bring their own food and supplies to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.
For those opting to camp overnight, it’s essential to pack items like tents, sleeping bags, flashlights, and warm clothing.
“There are no tourism amenities, lodging, or food vendors in the area, so most campers bring their own meals and beverages,” Cuong advised.
He also encouraged visitors to respect the environment by avoiding litter and refraining from lighting fires directly on the grass, thus preserving the natural surroundings.
Besides camping and cloud spotting, visitors at Tak Po can learn about the local cultures of ethnic groups such as the Xo Dang and Ca Dong.
