A troubling event has emerged involving an assault on a foreign visitor in Ho Chi Minh City’s lively Bui Vien Walking Street. This incident has gained widespread attention on social media, leading law enforcement to take action and identify those accountable.

On May 18, authorities from Pham Ngu Lao Ward in District 1, working alongside Ho Chi Minh City Police, commenced an inquiry into a group caught on video attacking a foreign man.
The viral video shared online depicts three young Vietnamese men engaging in a physical assault on a shirtless tourist, delivering punches and kicks openly. The visitor is shown attempting to protect himself and signaling for the aggressors to stop.
In spite of his efforts to de-escalate the situation, the attackers persisted with their aggression, with one individual swinging a beer bottle that narrowly missed the tourist’s head.
This altercation took place in a crowded tourist area, yet there appeared to be no intervention from onlookers.
After the footage gained traction, local officials swiftly called the suspects for questioning. Initial reports suggest that the attack was provoked by a dispute that involved alcohol.
