Dating back over a millennium, Bang An Tower is a remarkable example of Cham architecture in Vietnam, distinguished by its unique octagonal structure which is the last of its kind in the country.
This historical site is situated in Dien An ward, within Dien Ban town of Quang Nam Province, approximately 14 kilometers from the historic Hoi An and 27 kilometers from Da Nang.
It is believed that the tower was constructed in the 10th century and was used for worship and ritualistic practices. The interior is dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva, symbolized by a Linga.
As one of the largest brick structures from the Champa civilization, Bang An Tower has withstood the test of time, surviving both natural disasters and historical conflicts while retaining its distinctive architecture.
Bang An Tower holds the distinction of being the only surviving octagonal tower in Vietnam and was officially designated a National Historic and Cultural Relic in 1989.
