On June 6 in the afternoon, the Economic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City collaborated with the Phong Phu Commune Police (Binh Chanh District), the Department of Health, and other pertinent agencies to investigate a significant amount of Western medications and dietary supplements found abandoned in a suburban area.
Officials are currently analyzing surveillance footage from various roads nearby to trace the individuals and vehicles responsible for disposing of the medications and supplements at different points along Nguyen Van Linh Street in the Phong Phu Commune, Binh Chanh District.
Earlier that same morning, community members spotted numerous discarded containers of medications and supplements on vacant land along Nguyen Van Linh Street. After receiving the alert, officials from Phong Phu Commune promptly arrived to secure the site and notify higher authorities.
Reportedly, the items that had been discarded primarily consisted of dietary supplements like liver health tonics, cognitive enhancers, digestive support, children’s DHA supplements, as well as multivitamins for children and expectant mothers, alongside a small number of pharmaceutical products.
An examination of the packaging revealed that the items were still within their expiration dates, valid until 2026 to 2028.
The labels included not only Vietnamese but also English, Korean, and Japanese. Some products were marked as being produced in factories located in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa.
Locals noted motorized tricycles arriving and departing the area around 4 to 5 a.m. over the past couple of days. Although they could not confirm what was being transported, these vehicles are thought to be involved in the disposal of the medicines and supplements.
