On October 4 morning in Paris, General Secretary and President To Lam presented a keynote address at the FrancoTech Forum, an event targeting innovation and creativity within the Francophone community.
FrancoTech, driven by French President Emmanuel Macron, is part of the 19th Francophone Summit and aims to enhance business relationships and collaboration in the Francophone economic region.
The forum attracted approximately 1,500 attendees, including business leaders, economic specialists, and Francophone academics. Discussions focused on five primary sectors: digital technology and AI, energy transitions, human resources, logistics and food security, and financial services for innovation.
In his speech, President To Lam underscored the significant influence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the digital economy, and advancements in science and technology, which are emerging as new growth propellers for countries. He highlighted the importance of investing in innovation and creativity as a strategic choice for nations and businesses alike.
“Vietnam has enacted multiple policies to promote innovation and stimulate a robust entrepreneurial environment, ensuring optimal conditions for businesses to flourish,” he remarked.
He also pointed out that businesses and the integration of science and technology have greatly contributed to Vietnam’s recent economic milestones. Vietnam has transitioned from an underdeveloped economy to one of the 40 largest economies globally and ranks among the top 20 in trade volumes worldwide.
“Embracing science, technology, and innovation will be crucial as we embark on a new phase of national development,” he asserted.
With more than 1.2 billion people, representing 16% of the global GDP and 20% of international trade, the Francophone community presents extensive opportunities for economic collaboration, investment, and commerce. President To Lam emphasized that the potential of these opportunities can only be realized through the collective endeavors of the business sector.
The FrancoTech Forum acts not only as an economic venue but also as an essential link for businesses, investors, and critical stakeholders to exchange experiences, explore partnerships, and foster mutual growth.
Mr. To Lam commended the forum’s focus on five crucial topics, reflecting the need for businesses to confront immediate global challenges.
Vietnam, characterized by its youthful and dynamic populace and swiftly growing digital economy, is positioning itself as a highly attractive market. The nation is working toward becoming a modern industrialized state, with the digital economy at its forefront.
President To Lam expressed Vietnam’s eagerness for deeper partnerships with various nations, particularly France and other Francophone nations, to cultivate high-potential, innovative industries.
He encouraged Francophone businesses and investors to maintain their interest in Vietnam, which is steadily creating a conducive business landscape with appealing incentives. The country’s strategic location renders it an ideal center for Francophone companies looking to expand into significant international markets.
“Vietnam stands ready to assist African countries, following the spirit of ‘if you want to go far, go together,'” emphasized President To Lam, reinforcing Vietnam’s dedication to strengthening collaboration within the Francophone community.
With optimism about the vast potential and robust partnerships between Vietnam, France, and the Francophone community, Mr. To Lam concluded, “Together, we will embark on new chapters in collaboration, contributing positively to the growth of businesses and nations collectively.”
