President Luong Cuong, representing the Vietnamese government and its citizens, congratulated Lee Jae Myung on his election as the 21st President of South Korea. He also transmitted greetings from General Secretary To Lam and other Vietnamese officials to President Lee.
President Luong Cuong commended the new president’s keen focus on Asia, noting that their initial phone conversation highlights the significance South Korea places on its connections with Vietnam.
Vietnam is supportive of South Korea’s development strategies and is optimistic that under President Lee’s guidance, the nation will continue to flourish, its citizens will prosper, and its international standing will elevate, positively impacting peace, stability, and collaborative growth worldwide.
He expressed satisfaction with the meaningful progress in bilateral ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations over 30 years ago, particularly following the elevation to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He reiterated Vietnam’s steadfast commitment to strengthening its relationship with South Korea and conveyed his desire to collaborate with President Lee to enhance ties in a more effective and sustainable way.
In reply, President Lee Jae Myung expressed his sincere appreciation to General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong for their heartfelt congratulations on his electoral victory.

President Lee highlighted Vietnam’s importance as a crucial regional partner and reaffirmed his administration’s intention to intensify collaboration.
He praised Vietnam’s remarkable development successes and expressed his eagerness to work towards mutual prosperity. He also urged Vietnam to continue fostering a conducive environment for South Korean businesses to invest and expand in the country.
The two leaders concurred on essential strategies to enhance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including sustaining high-level dialogues, broadening cooperation in defense, security, and transnational crime prevention, as well as coordinating closely on economic, trade, and investment initiatives to tackle global challenges.
They also agreed to prioritize science and technology, innovation, and particularly high-tech industries, as core elements of their cooperative efforts.
Vietnam and South Korea will boost their mutual support in regional and international platforms, including collaboration for the successful hosting of the APEC Summit in South Korea in 2025, the APEC Summit in Vietnam in 2027, and their joint leadership of the Mekong-Korea Cooperation framework.
