Introducing the TP-150 Aircraft
The TP-150, recently revealed at an exhibition, is crafted for military training and patrol use, taking design cues from Brazil’s Tucano 312 light attack aircraft.
This model was originally conceived by Flying Legend in Italy before the rights to its production were passed on to Flying Legend in Vietnam.
While the aircraft’s engine, propellers, and electronics are procured from Western manufacturers, essential elements like the fuselage, wings, landing gear, and other accessories are fabricated and assembled at the Flying Legend facility located in Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam.
The primary market for the TP-150 will be international, targeting air forces in South America, North Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region for use in training and surveillance operations.
The designation “TP-150” signifies “Trainer & Patrol,” and the aircraft is available in two main configurations: the FG (fixed gear) and the RG (retractable gear). Both types are powered by Rotax engines that generate between 114 and 150 horsepower, depending on the specific version.
With a flight range of 1,130 to 1,200 kilometers, it can ascend to altitudes of 7,000 meters and achieve speeds of up to 330 km/h. Fuel consumption varies between 24.5 and 28.3 liters per hour, again depending on the model.
The RG variant, aimed at advanced training, includes retractable landing gear, variable-pitch propellers, and state-of-the-art Dynon avionics, featuring displays in both cockpits. It is also outfitted with mechanical gauges, a radio communication system, transponders, and an emergency locator transmitter (ELT).
The FG model is geared toward novice pilots, offering options for fixed-pitch or variable-pitch propellers. It shares many features with the RG, including a similar avionics suite, an autopilot system, and customizable options to fit client specifications.
Weighing in with a maximum takeoff weight of 750 kg and a dry weight of 430 kg, the TP-150 provides a baggage allowance of 34 kg for the two pilots. The front cockpit boasts an 11-inch flight display, while the rear cockpit is equipped with an 8-inch screen.
Although it meets aviation standards in several nations, the TP-150 has yet to gain certification for flight operations in Vietnam.
This aircraft is projected for export to South American, North African, and Asia-Pacific countries, particularly those looking for economical solutions for military training.
Additionally, Flying Legend Vietnam is working on a gas turbine-powered model of the TP-150, which is slated for testing in the near future.
The company highlights that the TP-150 is designed for nations interested in maximizing their defense investments while ensuring effective training programs.
