Pham Thi Ngoc Thuy, the Office Director of the Private Economic Development Research Board (Board IV), stated that the Party and State have issued cohesive resolutions addressing science, technology, digital transformation, and economic diplomacy. To put Resolution 57 into action, Vietnam must cultivate a workforce equipped with innovative thinking and capabilities to fulfill the demands of a changing era.
Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT, pointed out that Resolution 57 represents a transformative moment, unlocking considerable potential for the country, especially in the realms of science, technology, and workforce enhancement.
“At FPT, we challenge students to engage with the mastery of science and technology from their early educational experiences. Upon graduation, they can emerge as specialized scientists or managers in science and technology, inspired by the ethos of Resolution 57,” he remarked.
“I am confident that by 2045, Vietnam will boast world-class leaders who will drive the nation’s development based on science and technology. This aspiration led to the establishment of the Strategic Human Resources Alliance,” Khoa asserted.
To further this human resources initiative, Dr. Le Truong Tung introduced the term “Engineer 57,” or ‘KS 57,’ signifying engineers adept for the new development phase and aligned with the Politburo’s Resolution 57, which emphasizes advancements in science and technology as well as digital transformation.
“KS57” refers to a program launched by FPT University, officially titled the “Strategic Reserve Force for Implementing Resolution 57 on Digital Transformation in State Agencies and Enterprises.”
As digital transformation accelerates within ministries, localities, and companies, especially in IT sectors, there will be a rising need for skilled professionals, which could lead to shortages. The reserve force, or the participating students, will bolster experienced core teams and collaborate on digital transformation initiatives for state entities and businesses.
Tung mentioned that at FPT University, this program is set to commence in the third semester. Should the need arise, students have the option to temporarily pause their education for 1-2 semesters to engage in practical projects with core teams. This design renders the program a short-term course, akin to a national revolution in digital innovation, integrating both primary local forces and reserve participants, reminiscent of collective efforts during the liberation era in South Vietnam.
“This group isn’t limited to standard IT engineers. They are equipped with technical knowledge enhanced by digital transformation skills, allowing them to assist state offices or collaborate with professional IT teams on digital transformation initiatives,” he noted.
“When localities seek assistance, students will step in as interns, mentored by dedicated teams. Following their assignments, they will return to their studies,” Tung clarified.
The structure of the program includes two comprehensive modules. Training will primarily occur online through Coursera, maximizing access to high-quality online educational materials.
Assessments will be based on substantial questions, with corresponding grades, alongside Coursera certifications validated by FPT University. Students will also need to pass an additional examination to ensure quality. This approach is consistent with the rigorous standards that FPT University applies to various courses.
Upon completing both specialized modules, students will have the opportunity to register voluntarily, particularly those IT students in their third semester or higher with strong academic records.
Participation is free, and students will earn certificates and join the strategic human resource pool, prepared to address the needs of state agencies and businesses. This not only provides educational benefits but also enhances career pathways, particularly in national digital transformation projects.
The curriculum emphasizes the digital transformation ecosystem, touching on government, enterprises, digital economy, digital finance, and digital marketing. Core competencies are geared toward developing skills for organizing and executing systemic digital transformation, which is vital for future human resources.
All these components have been incorporated into lectures, ready for widespread adoption at FPT University.
“This represents the initial experimental phase of FPT University, where AI is optimally utilized in areas such as content creation, assessment design, and video development. The entire process follows the guidance of the professional department, aiming to leverage technology’s capabilities to replace the time-intensive manual tasks of the past,” Tung explained.
