Vietnam Emerges as Key Hub for High-Tech Investments

Vietnam is positioning itself as a prime location for tech companies, as highlighted by leaders from major corporations like Meta and Marvell. These representatives commended the nation’s advantages during the Vietnam Investment Forum on May 20, which was part of the Southeast Asia Semiconductor Exhibition 2025 in Singapore.

This forum was a collaborative effort involving the National Innovation Center (NIC), the Ministry of Finance, the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, and Meta. It comes at a crucial time as Vietnam speeds up its shift toward a growth strategy led by science, technology, innovation, and digital change.

The forum this year aimed at achieving four main objectives:

Enhancing Vietnam’s environment for high-tech investments and ecosystem
Showcasing favorable government policies for sectors like semiconductors, AI, and smart manufacturing
Building connections between businesses, research institutions, and global partners
Developing training initiatives and establishing a regional hub for semiconductor talent in Vietnam
Vietnam welcomes collaboration with international technology leaders

“Vietnam is eager to partner closely with global tech giants such as Meta, NVIDIA, Marvell, Cadence, Dassault Systèmes, and Siemens,” stated Vu Quoc Huy, NIC Director, during the ceremony. “We are committed to cultivating an innovation ecosystem centered on strategic technologies including semiconductors, AI, and advanced manufacturing.”

Tran Phuoc Anh, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore, highlighted the forum’s significance in cultivating strategic investment collaborations that align with Vietnam’s sustainable development and integration into the global value chain.

More than 150 attendees were present, including officials from Meta, Marvell, Siemens EDA, Cadence, Dassault Systèmes, A*Star, Viettel, FPT, Deep C, as well as representatives from key Vietnamese cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Bac Giang.

Rafael Frankel, Meta’s Director of Public Policy for Asia-Pacific, unveiled the ViGen dataset—a community-focused AI foundation in Vietnamese. He also announced Meta’s growth in Vietnam with plans for local product initiatives.

Le Quang Dam, General Director of Marvell Vietnam, praised the country’s vibrant investment climate, strong governmental backing, modern facilities, and skilled workforce. He remarked, “These elements are pivotal in making Vietnam an attractive destination for high-tech companies.”

Vietnam’s role in the innovation frameworks of both Meta and Marvell is becoming increasingly significant. Meta’s planned production of the Quest 3S VR headset is set to create 1,000 jobs and bring millions into the economy. At the same time, Marvell’s operations in Vietnam have become its third-largest R&D hub worldwide, with nearly 500 engineers on staff.

During the themed panel “Unlocking Vietnam’s High-Tech Potential,” speakers from Dassault Systèmes, Siemens, Marvell, Deep C, and authorities from Vietnamese high-tech parks provided strategic insights on attracting investment and nurturing a sustainable technology ecosystem.

Earlier, at the Vietnam-Austria High-Tech and Innovation Forum 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized, “Science, technology, and innovation are fundamental breakthroughs that drive growth, productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness.”

To realize this vision, Vietnam is concentrating on:

Eliminating obstacles to tech innovation
Investing in digital and R&D infrastructure
Developing human capital for future industrial needs
Encouraging innovation and digital progress across various sectors
Strengthening international partnerships
