Launch of Government App Feature on Google Play
On December 20, the Authority of Information Security (AIS) from the Ministry of Information and Communications, in partnership with Google, introduced a new feature called “Official Government App” on Google Play.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to assist Vietnamese users in easily identifying legitimate government apps, creating a safer online environment.
The feature offers a distinct “Government” label for apps that have been verified, allowing users to trust these applications more readily. Currently, over 80 apps such as VNeID, VssID, and “i-SPEED by VNNIC” have received this certification.
This labeling helps users reliably access crucial public services including digital identification and other government-supported platforms. A complete list of these verified apps can also be found on the Trustworthy Network System at tinnhiemmang.vn.
Tran Quang Hung, the Acting Director of AIS, underlined the significance of this feature in enhancing public confidence in digital services.
He stated, “This feature makes it simpler for users to recognize and engage with official government services, while also promoting awareness and trust in state digital platforms.”
Wilson White, Google’s Vice President for Public Policy and Government Relations in the Asia-Pacific region, expressed the company’s dedication to improving app discoverability and trustworthiness on Google Play.
He mentioned, “Government applications deliver essential services, and our goal is to ensure that users can effortlessly locate the services they require.”
AIS intends to continue collaborating with Google and relevant authorities to broaden this initiative, thereby enhancing user safety and confidence in the digital landscape.
