Pham Thi Hue, representing Vietnam, secured her spot in the rowing quarterfinals after finishing second in the repechage round on July 28. Initially placing fifth in the qualifying round, she displayed a strong performance in the repechage round.
In a group of five rowers, Hue competed fiercely, closely following Joanie Delgaco from the Philippines. Despite initially lagging behind, she managed to narrow the gap to finish just 5.97 seconds after Delgaco, securing her place in the quarterfinals.
Pham Thi Hue, born in Quang Binh in 1988, has a remarkable rowing career with multiple achievements, including silver medals at the 2013 Asian Games and numerous gold medals at the SEA Games. She even won a gold medal at the SEA Games in 2015 while being four months pregnant.
The quarterfinals for rowing are scheduled to take place on July 29 at 14:55 (Hanoi time). This marks a significant accomplishment for Pham Thi Hue, who has previously missed out on participating in the Olympics due to single-entry rules but now has the opportunity to compete in Paris 2024.
