Telecom Preparations for Tet Holiday in Vietnam
As the Tet holiday nears, Vietnam’s leading telecom companies are set to manage the anticipated rise in communication needs, aiming for uninterrupted service for millions of users.
Viettel’s Comprehensive Strategy
Viettel is enhancing its services to cover over 650 locations for festivals and events, including 335 fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve. The company has established more than 800 new base transceiver stations (BTS) and nearly 100 mobile broadcasting units to handle the surge in demand.
To improve connectivity in busy areas, they have also introduced 20,000 small-cell solutions which help minimize network congestion. Furthermore, Viettel is utilizing advanced technologies for quality assurance, automatic load distribution, and antenna fine-tuning to provide reliable 2G and 4G services.
This preparation commenced a month ahead of Tet, engaging thousands of personnel from design, planning, and technical teams. Viettel has rolled out the NetEvent software that automatically notifies them of possible network disruptions at crowded venues, allowing for prompt interventions.
MobiFone’s Robust Measures
MobiFone has initiated extensive technical measures to guarantee stable network operations during Tet, focusing especially on New Year’s Eve.
These key actions comprise:
- Thorough evaluations of network infrastructure to ensure robust redundancy.
- Enhancement of both domestic and international transmission capabilities to meet increased usage.
- Preparation of emergency plans with skilled technical teams available at critical hubs and command centers.
- Deployment of mobile broadcasting units and increased monitoring on essential transmission routes to manage high traffic.
VNPT’s Upgrades and Enhancements
VNPT began its preparations back in December 2024 by meticulously examining its systems and boosting their capacity.
Significant improvements include:
- A 16.6% increase in international internet bandwidth, complemented by new terrestrial routes to reduce risks from undersea cable failures.
- A 23% enhancement to the core network capacity to support both broadband and mobile internet usage.
- Collaborations with major content providers to elevate service quality, increasing connection capacity by 10% to 40% based on demand.
VNPT has also upgraded over 3,800 broadcasting stations at nearly 300 key event venues nationwide and added more mobile broadcasting units for large gatherings. Their broadcasting services promise high-quality signal delivery through modern satellite vehicles and secure data systems.
Vietnamobile’s Preparedness for Increased Data Usage
Vietnamobile expects a considerable rise in data consumption at popular event sites during Tet. In response, the company has:
- Boosted network resources and capacity in busy locations.
- Assigned additional staff for on-ground support.
- Provided essential locations with backup generators to ensure continuous service.
