20-Year-Old Suspect Captured in Connection with Armed Robbery and Murder in Kano

Kano State police reported on May 6, 2025, through their spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, that a man named Aliyu Umar, aged 20, has been taken into custody for armed robbery and murder.

On May 5, 2025, at around 6:40 AM, the police received reports from Danbare Quarters about an attack on 30-year-old Shehu Muhammad. Two assailants broke into his home and attacked him with a cutlass, causing severe injuries.

The victim was taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In response to the report, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori dispatched investigative teams immediately. One suspect, Aliyu Umar, was apprehended at the scene, and the weapon used in the crime was recovered.

Umar is currently cooperating with the investigation and is expected to face charges.
