Alhassan Ado Doguwa, House of Representatives Majority Leader, Remanded in Prison for Alleged Murder (Video)

Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the House of Representatives majority leader, was arrested and remanded in prison on Wednesday, March 1, after being apprehended at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport. The APC lawmaker is suspected of leading an attack on an INEC office in his constituency, which resulted in the death of six people. It is alleged that the INEC official declared Doguwa the winner of the election at gunpoint.

On Wednesday evening, Doguwa was brought before Court 58 of the Magistrate’s Court in Nomansland area of Kano state metropolis. The First Information Report was read and the magistrate, Ibrahim Mansur Yola, issued a remand order. The matter was adjourned to March 7. A video of Doguwa being taken away to prison has been released.
