BTS have been hinting about their next comeback album a lot. The group only had one comeback in 2019, and fans expect the newest album to drop sometime in January 2020. Based on hints from BTS, some fans think the album could arrive on Jan. 10, 2020, which means Big Hit Entertainment would announce the comeback on Dec. 10, 2019 at midnight KST.
Jimin hinted about BTS’s comeback at MAMA
At the Mnet Asian Music Awards, BTS had a clean sweep and won all four Daesangs. During BTS’s acceptance speech for Album of the Year, Jimin hinted about the album.
“We’re working on our next album now, and I think we’ll be able to put out an even better album than you’re expecting,” he said in his speech. “Please look forward to it a lot. Thank you.”
At the end of the awards show, Jimin once again brought up BTS’s album.
“[The] next album is really good, really good please look forward to it a lot,” a Twitter user translated.
There is no way Jimin and the other members of BTS would be talking about their next album so much if it wasn’t about to be released. The fact Jimin brought up the album at MAMA shows BTS wants to increase awareness about the album, meaning an announcement could happen any day now.
Big Hit Entertainment retweeted an article about BTS’s comeback
On Dec. 7, BTS attended Variety’s Hitmakers brunch. At the event, BTS received the Group of the Year award. In their acceptance speech, BTS once again teased new music.
“The great news is that we are currently working on our new music and new album and can’t wait to share them with you guys in the near future. I hope you guys are so excited to discover what BTS has in store in 2020,” RM said in his speech.
Variety shared the speech in an article, and Big Hit Entertainment proceeded to retweet it. While the company usually denies comeback rumors, BTS and their label are embracing the upcoming album.
BTS hinted that the album will drop on Jan. 10
On Nov. 30, BTS performed at the Mnet Music Awards. RM performed “Intro: Persona” in a classroom setting that resembled the song’s music video. Several words and phrases were spray painted around the classroom including “Shadow” and “Ego.”
One of the phrases was “1/10,” hinting at the date Jan. 10. Before this, ARMY suspected the comeback album would drop on Jan. 24 because of the date noticed in VCRs at Love Yourself: Speak Yourself [The Final]. The hint from MMA made fans think the album could actually arrive on Jan. 10.
Fans are ready for the announcement or to be clowned
With all of these hints, ARMY is ready for the announcement at midnight KST or to be clowned. So far, fans have speculated a comeback announcement since October, so some might be playing it safe instead of getting their hopes up.
“Oh, …just remembered that if comeback date is on Jan 10, then does it mean we’ll start getting comeback teasers on Dec 9…thoughts?? I’M SUDDENLY NOT READY FOR THIS 12am BigHit o’clock,” wrote a Twitter user.
“wait.. if bts drops comeback teaser usually a month before the actual comeback……and their comeback is rumoured to be Jan 10.. that’s means they’re dropping something today or tmr night. 12am kst..,” a fan tweeted.
“THE JAN 10 CB MIGHT BE TRUE AFTER ALL BC WHAT IF THIS IS THE COMEBACK RUMOURS ARTICLE THAT WE USUALLY GET ON SUNDAY TO LOWKEY PREPARE US AND THEN BOOM ANNOUNCEMENT AND PREORDER LINKS ON TUESDAY 12AM KST,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“They announced persona a month before the cb, so we should be getting smt in the next 2 days if that’s true for this cb,” wrote a Twitter user.
One fan tweeted, “Everyone is suddenly confident that BTS comeback will be on Jan 10, 2020?”
