In Ogun State, authorities have apprehended a man named Tunde Adebanjo, suspected of attempting to rob a woman.
While he was in the act, local residents from the Iyana-Iyasi community in Ota noticed and quickly intervened, recovering a homemade gun and a Tecno phone from him.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the police.
According to a statement from the State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, “At about 6:30 am, community members caught Tunde Adebanjo while he was robbing Mrs. Babalola Rachel.”
“Upon his capture, he was discovered with a locally fabricated pistol and a Tecno phone belonging to the victim,” she added.
Odutola mentioned that during interrogation, Adebanjo admitted to being involved in robbery activities.
The ongoing investigation has now been referred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for appropriate measures.
