Two siblings, Saliu Yisa and Saliu Qudri, were apprehended by the authorities in Osun State for engaging in theft, conspiracy, and fraudulent activities.
The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, disclosed during a media briefing in Osogbo that the brothers, aged 30 and 19, deceived a businessman who intended to invest in cattle farming.
Opalola mentioned that the older brother, Yisa, utilized ill-gotten gains from his fraudulent schemes to construct a house in the Kelebe region of Osogbo.
According to Opalola, the complainant reported the incident to the police surveillance team, stating that he had a business relationship with Saliu Yisa, a member of the Fulani tribe, for cattle rearing purposes. The complainant entrusted a total of 54 cows to Yisa, who, in collaboration with his brother, Qudri, exploited the situation to deceive and extort money from the investor.
The manager of the farm became suspicious of Yisa’s actions when all the cows under his care mysteriously disappeared. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Yisa had sold the cows and absconded.
Yisa’s wives feigned ignorance about his whereabouts and misled the complainant. Subsequently, the police arrested the brothers from their hideout, where Yisa confessed to using the embezzled funds to construct a residence in Osogbo. Sixteen cows were found in Qudri’s possession, indicating their involvement in the fraudulent activities.
Sixteen cows were recovered from the suspects as incriminating evidence in the case. Opalola stated that the brothers would face legal charges following the conclusion of the investigation.
