Authorities in Nasarawa State have apprehended two individuals involved in separate criminal activities related to the theft of a child and motorcycles in Keffi.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, shared this information on Sunday, representing Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada.
In the first case, on September 28, 2024, police arrested a woman named Khadija Aliyu, who is accused of abducting a seven-day-old infant during a naming ceremony at a residence near the INEC office in Keffi. She reportedly attended the event, falsely claiming to be pregnant, and discreetly took the sleeping child out of the house, hiding her under a veil to evade detection before fleeing. She was subsequently apprehended.
In an unrelated incident, police from the Angwan Lambu Division arrested an ex-convict named Hussaini Mohammed on suspicion of motorcycle theft. Mohammed, released from prison a few months prior, was found with three motorcycles believed to have been stolen.
Nansel stated that CP Umar Shehu Nadada has encouraged anyone whose motorcycle has been stolen to visit the Angwan Lambu Division in Keffi with proof of ownership to retrieve the recovered vehicles.
He further assured the community that the suspects will be brought to justice and emphasized the importance of public cooperation with law enforcement to help deter future criminal behavior.
