The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) conducted a raid on a styrofoam warehouse situated at Ojuwoye market in Mushin, Lagos. The owner of the warehouse was found to have brought the banned styrofoam to the market early on a Tuesday morning.
The seized products have been confiscated and transported to the KAI office in Oshodi for proper disposal. The Lagos State Government is reinforcing its commitment to ensuring a healthier and cleaner environment for all residents.
The ban on the use and distribution of Styrofoam and other single-use plastics in Lagos was announced by the state government in January 2024. This decision came in response to the significant environmental impact caused by these non-biodegradable materials.
