The Ogun State Police have apprehended two individuals, Monday Ogunniyi and Oladeyo Idowu, on suspicion of being involved in ritualistic activities in Oja Odan, Yewa North Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola explained that their arrest stemmed from a reported kidnapping incident.
According to the police, Oladeyo Idowu, a resident of the School 4 area in Oja Odan, went to the police station to report that Monday Ogunniyi had abducted a woman named Regina Oladeyo.
Following this report, officers found Regina Oladeyo at Monday Ogunniyi’s home in the Okegbala part of Oja Odan.
Upon interrogation, Ogunniyi confessed to the kidnapping but claimed he and Idowu were involved in rituals that required human body parts.
Investigations uncovered a plot between the two men to acquire body parts from a decomposing corpse for their rituals.
Additionally, police detectives were sent to a nearby river in the Afige area, where they discovered a dried human skeleton wearing female clothes.
This evidence supported Ogunniyi’s confession, implicating Oladeyo Idowu in the storage and mutilation of the body.
“On December 16, 2024, at approximately 4:30 PM, Oladeyo Idowu from the School 4 area reported to the police about the abduction of Regina Oladeyo by Monday Ogunniyi, who lives in the Okegbala area of Oja Odan,” the statement detailed.
“Regina Oladeyo was found at the home of the suspected abductor. Monday Ogunniyi admitted to the kidnapping but also stated that both he and Oladeyo Idowu had participated in rituals involving human remains.
“The investigation revealed that they were colluding to obtain body parts from a decomposed corpse for their rituals.
“A police team later found a dried human skeleton draped with female clothing by a river in Afige.
“Ogunniyi’s confession led to implicating Oladeyo Idowu in the dismemberment and storage of the remains, along with taking photographs and collecting other evidence.
“The case will be referred to the SCID Eleweran for further investigation.”
