‘Avengers 5’: Marvel is Reportedly Already Taking Script Pitches for ‘Young Avengers’

Marvel has been mum about Avengers 5, but the studio is reportedly developing a script for a related project in Young Avengers. Sources claim that the studio is now taking script pitches for Young Avengers, a sign that Marvel is serious about moving forward with the film. Here is everything we know about a potential Young Avengers movie.

What’s next for the Avengers?

Marvel concluded a few story arcs in Avengers: Endgame. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) said goodbye after giving her life to secure an Infinity Stone, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), sacrificed himself to save the universe, and Captain America (Chris Evans) retired after living out his days with the love of his life, Peggy Carter.

The studio will introduce a host of new superheroes in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some of whom will go on to make up the new team. With so many new faces in the mix, Phase 4 will serve as a soft reboot of sorts.

Marvel has already announced its full slate of Phase 4 projects, but the studio has not released any specific details after that wraps. Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Avengers 5 will happen, but it sounds like fans will get Young Avengers first.

Development has started on ‘Young Avengers’

Marvel has not said anything official about Young Avengers, but Thomas Polito, the senior editor over at The Geeks WorldWide, claims that the studio is taking pitches for the project.

“Sounds like Marvel Studios is gearing up to take pitches from writers for Young Avengers,” Polito shared.

Polito did not reveal any specifics about Marvel’s plan but Feige was asked about the project last year. According to We Got This Covered, Feige admitted that they are always looking for stories to adapt and anything from the comics is fair game.

“Anything from the books that we haven’t yet done in film is always on the table,” Feige stated.

Feige added that they are constantly planning out the MCU and that new characters are the driving force behind future developments. There is no telling which Young Avengers story Marvel will bring to the big screens, but we do have a good idea which characters might appear in the film.

Who will star make up the new team?

Marvel has already laid some of the groundwork for Young Avengers. In Endgame, for example, fans met an older version of Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) daughter, Cassie Lang, who will reportedly join the project.

The studio’s upcoming television series, Hawkeye, will reportedly feature Clint’s (Jeremy Renner) daughter, Kate Bishop, who will take over her father’s mantle.

A few months ago, a casting call for She-Hulk seemingly confirmed the first official member. Marvel announced that it is looking for an actress to play the lead in the series and that the character would go on to be a “member of the Avengers.”

All three of these characters could very well appear in Young Avengers, though we cannot say for sure until Marvel releases an official announcement. The studio just delayed all of its Phase 4 projects due to the coronavirus pandemic, so it might be a while before we hear anything new.

What about the MCU’s next big villain?

Apart from the heroes who might appear in Young Avengers, fans have theorized about which villains the group might confront in the film. Now that Thanos (Josh Brolin) is gone, some fans believe that the next big bad in the MCU will be Galactus.

In the comics, Galactus is a world-eating entity who is the main antagonist for the Fantastic Four. But given how his nickname is the “devourer of planets,” Marvel could easily make him the main foe for the Avengers.

There has also been some talk about the new team taking on the Deviants, who will be introduced in The Eternals. We still do not know which of the Deviants will be featured in the movie, but it is possible that pop up again in a future project.

Marvel has not revealed when Young Avengers or Avengers 5 will premiere. The next film in Marvel’s lineup is Black Widow, which is scheduled to hit theaters in November.
