Azealia Banks Says She’s ‘Not Over’ Russell Crowe Incident

Shortly after Vince Staples tweeted about her notorious 2016 confrontation with Russell Crowe, Azealia Banks took to Instagram to relive that notorious evening.

“YALL LET RUSSELL CROWE SPIT AT AZEALIA BANKS BUT IF TYLER PERRY SPIT AT TAYLOR SWIFT IT WOULD BE NO MORE MEDEAS MOVIES,” tweeted Staples. “LOL BUT IM SERIOUS.”

Under a screenshot of the tweet, Banks went on a rant of her personal. “Crazy,” she wrote. “All Kanye did was say excuse me then take Taylor’s mic (which she handed him) and they damn near cancelled him. Crowe choked me, spat on me, called me a ni**er and is still being booked for work. It’s insane that he really got away with that. I’m really not over it.”

She went on to say that her movie Love Beats Rhymes was canceled as a result of incident and that she hopes to have one other alternative in Hollywood. “These last two years have really been hard for me,” she added. “I’m getting better now and I hope I get the chance to do another movie and have a real premier with a red carpet and paparazzi/media such… I was really looking forward to that.”

In October 2016, Banks opened up about being “humiliated” throughout a tearful interview. “Every time something like this happens, I’m always being blamed for wanting this kind of attention,” she mentioned. “Who the fuck wants to tell somebody they got spat on? That’s humiliating.”

Witnesses, together with RZA, have mostly denied her account of the incident. They have mentioned, nonetheless, that Crowe eliminated Banks from his ceremonial dinner after Banks picked up a glass and threatened to chop one other girl with it.

In December 2016, Crowe avoided charges within the controversial case when the District Attorney dominated that the actor was “justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks.”
