A fire is currently engulfing the Oko Baba plank market in the Ebute Metta region of Lagos state.
This devastating incident has led to an immediate response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services alongside the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
An individual on X, named Adedeji Olalekan under the username #Stylomedia, reported on Sunday that the flames have spread to adjacent makeshift structures, resulting in significant destruction.
He stated, “Okobaba Street is on fire now, all the shanties are burning.”
LASEMA’s spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the situation to The Punch and provided a brief update via WhatsApp. He mentioned that emergency teams are currently conducting search and rescue operations at the location.
Okunbor said, “LASEMA Response Team, LRU Fire Unit, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in search and rescue operation at Oko Baba plank market by Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta.”
