Why VeryDarkMan Refuses EFCC Invitation
Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, is a Nigerian activist and social media influencer. He has publicly stated his reasons for declining an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding accusations of corruption against the agency’s officials.
In a recent video, VeryDarkMan shared a recorded conversation allegedly featuring social media star Bobrisky. This recording suggested that a payment of N15 million was requested to dismiss a money laundering accusation against Bobrisky.
Following this, the EFCC sent out invitations to both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to come to their Lagos office to help with the investigation into the alleged bribery.
However, Otse made it clear on Wednesday that he would not attend the Lagos meeting, expressing concerns about his safety and noting that he doesn’t live there. He suggested the EFCC should instead hold meetings at their Abuja office.
In his video response, which was viewed by Vanguard on X (formerly Twitter), he criticized the EFCC for failing to ensure Bobrisky’s imprisonment up to this point.
He remarked, “Before asking me to show up, you should thoroughly investigate your officers first. Only after you handle the Bobrisky case can you approach me.”
He further argued, “It doesn’t make sense for me to go to Lagos while the EFCC’s headquarters is in Abuja. You should bring Bobrisky to Abuja for your investigation.”
Otse concluded by stating, “I can’t afford N15 million, nor do I have influential connections. I don’t want to become a victim of a setup. I don’t trust you, so I won’t go.”
According to Vanguard, Bobrisky dismissed claims of agreeing to pay N15 million, labeling the audio recording as fraudulent.
