Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially introduced the Minimum Wage bill to the House of Representatives.
Presented on Tuesday, the bill is up for consideration and passage into legislation.
It is aimed at sanctioning the recently agreed N70,000 minimum wage between Organised Labour, Organised Private Sector, and the government after a series of lengthy discussions.
The correspondence from the President, read on the House floor on Tuesday, encompasses a new national minimum wage and the necessary legal structure for its execution.
He implored the legislators to hasten the approval of the minimum wage bill to enable prompt implementation for the betterment of Nigerian workers.
Furthermore, the President forwarded a request to the lawmakers for the modification of the Nigeria Police Act in line with section 58 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The proposed amendment focuses on revamping the Police concerning the appointment and term of office of the Inspector General of Police.
