The Plateau State Police have apprehended two individuals, Aminu Abdullahi (30) and Suleiman Mohammed (20), linked to the kidnapping of a 38-year-old man, for which they allegedly demanded a ransom of N10 million from his relatives.
The police rescued the victim, who was left by his kidnappers in a forest following a shootout with the authorities in Rantiya, Jos South Local Government Area.
On November 6, 2024, during a press briefing at the Rantiya police division, DSP Alfred Alabo, the spokesperson for the police command, explained how the arrest of the fleeing suspects was made possible by the efforts of the Rantiya Division’s DPO and his team.
“Referring to our earlier announcement on October 23, 2024, concerning the abduction of a 38-year-old man from Port Harcourt by unidentified assailants demanding a ransom of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000), we are pleased to report that two suspects have been captured,” the statement disclosed.
“The suspects, Aminu Abdullahi, aged 30, from Gold and Base in Jos South, and Suleiman Mohammed, a 20-year-old from Dutsen Kura in Basa LGA, were apprehended in the Gold and Base area on November 5, 2024, at approximately 12:45 PM due to a thorough investigation conducted by our detectives at Rantiya Division. The victim identified Suleiman Mohammed as one of his abductors during our inquiry.
“During questioning, Aminu Abdullahi admitted that Suleiman Mohammed had transferred money to him on two occasions, totaling N10,000 and N5,000. Our investigation is still ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police reassures the public of his commitment to maintaining the peace currently enjoyed in the state.
