The Nigerian Army has seized a significant amount of ammunition and freed three women kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria’s northeastern region.
In an announcement made on October 24, 2024, the Army confirmed that their troops, acting on useful intelligence, effectively intercepted and prevented terrorist actions in various areas of Zamfara and Katsina states.
On October 21, 2024, soldiers in Zamfara state responded to a terrorist road blockade at Jambako-Faru road in the Maradun Local Government Area.
This led to a fierce gun battle, forcing the terrorists to abandon their position, leaving behind an AK-47 rifle with 7.62mm special ammunition. In a separate encounter at Gidan Isa village in the Isa Local Government Area, troops engaged with terrorists attempting to cross the Marnona-Gudunmi-Isa road.
Post-conflict, troops retrieved a large number of weapons, including 297 rounds of the 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 23 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two magazines for AK-47 rifles, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone.
In another action in Katsina state, troops acted swiftly to an assault on Damari village in the Dandume Local Government Area, where three women had been taken by terrorists. All victims were successfully rescued and returned to their families.
The Chief of Army Staff praised the troops for their courageous efforts and urged them to continue their operations with determination.
He also expressed gratitude to the community for their support, especially in providing vital information that has been instrumental in achieving success in ongoing military efforts.
