Kcee and Harrysongz dancing the Alkayida
Though it’s been a while when this dance style came but haven’t trended this much. I hope you’ve heard of Alkayida? If no, Don’t be sad, there are many in your shoes. Don’t be scared either. Since it sounds like the name of dreaded terrorist group “Al – Qaeda”. LOL!
This dance style originated from Ghana and has been around since 2013. According to Wikipedia, “Alkayida is an Ashanti dance which from Ghana which involves the swaying of the body along with hand and shoulder movements in a certain pattern. According to hip life artist Guru who had a key role in popularizing the dance, the name of the dance should be written as “Akayida”.
Though it hasn’t fully caught on in Nigeria even when Kcee, Harrysong and Timaya did something on it. Still, most Nigerians didn’t take note until this year when Ghanaian musician Eugy and his Nigerian counterpart Mr. Eazi released their hit track Dance For Me. It currently has over 7.7 million views on YouTube.
