Two siblings, Adodo Irorehe (62) and Godwin Isaac Irorehe (40), have been detained for assaulting police officers and engaging in illegal drug trade in Edo State.
They were apprehended by the Raider Squad of the Edo State Police Command during a crackdown on areas known for illicit drug peddling.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Joel Moses Yamu, stated that upon noticing the police presence, the suspects who are proprietors of the establishment where drugs are distributed, brandished firearms, shot at the officers multiple times, and caused damage to a police vehicle’s side mirror.
Yamu specified that the police thwarted the assault, detained the perpetrators, and seized weapons and ammunition from them.
The Public Relations Officer listed the confiscated items as one double-barrel gun, one single-barrel gun, four spent cartridges, nine live cartridges, suspected marijuana, and other narcotics.
He mentioned that the suspects will face legal charges after the investigation concludes.
