Nigeria vs Libya AFCON Qualifier Match Canceled
The upcoming second leg of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Libya has been removed from the schedule.
This decision was made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to the disputes that arose surrounding the match.
The Super Eagles were supposed to face Libya today, following their prior victory against them, where they won 1-0 during the first leg held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, last Friday.
Reports indicated that the Nigerian Football Federation and the Super Eagles shared their distressing experience of being stuck for over 14 hours at a Libyan airport, where they faced significant difficulties, prompting their choice to return home.
In response to this incident, CAF announced that it had begun an investigation.
Additionally, the Libya Football Federation has claimed interference and is contemplating legal measures against Nigeria.
On their official Twitter account, CAF released an updated list of matches scheduled for Tuesday but notably left out the game between the Super Eagles and Libya.
