Adrienne Munju, a 41-year-old from Canada, was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug trafficking. She shared her reasons for this illegal act.
Munju admitted to smuggling drugs into Nigeria to fund her Master’s studies in Canada.
She was caught at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while bringing in a significant quantity of potent synthetic cannabis known as ‘Canadian Loud.’
Her arrest occurred during the clearance process for passengers arriving from a KLM flight.
According to agency spokesperson Femi Babafemi, an inspection of Munju’s three bags revealed 74 packages of the illegal drug, totaling 35.20 kilograms, hidden in two of her bags.
“In her statement, she mentioned being hired to transport the drugs via an online platform for 10,000 Canadian dollars after reaching Lagos. She accepted the job due to her financial needs for her Master’s degree,” Babafemi noted.
