As lifestyle gurus, you’d think that Jessica Alba, who runs The Honest Company, and Mrs. Goop herself would get along. They should theoretically be the kind of besties who trade genitalia-scented candles and non-toxic household products, but according to OK! USA, things were, in fact, toxic on the set of their TV series Planet of the Apps. The pair reportedly couldn’t stand each other.
An insider who spoke to the tabloid claimed that Paltrow and Alba were “like oil and water” to the point that it was “shocking they even agreed to do [the show] together.” Both women reportedly took jabs at the other’s business. Paltrow supposedly claimed Goop was “a very ethical company,” which inferred a contrast to the ingredient controversy that got The Honest Company sued. Alba reportedly criticized Goop for only “catering to the wealthy,” while claiming The Honest Company “connects with real women.” It didn’t stop there, either. Competition aside, the pair couldn’t figure out how to run their series.
“Gwyneth is a delegator, while Jess likes to roll up her sleeves — she’s even criticized Gwen’s hands-off style,” the alleged insider told the tab, adding, “Producers are going nuts trying to keep things peaceful.” At the time of this writing, the series never made it beyond its first season, though it would have been interesting watching it slowly turn into Celebrity Deathmatch.
