Charly Boy
Renowned musician and activist, Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has openly challenged President Bola Tinubu to arrest Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.
A group supporting Peter Obi had alleged that the presidency was considering the arrest of the former Anambra governor regarding an upcoming nationwide protest.
Earlier, Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga had accused Peter Obi of having ties to the protest organizers.
In response, the support group, through its spokesperson Yunusa Tanko, refuted the allegations asserting that they were a ploy to detain Obi.
Charly Boy, in reaction, raised doubts about the justification of holding Obi accountable for a protest highlighting the country’s challenges.
He openly challenged the Presidency to make the arrest and face the repercussions.
Expressing his sentiments via his X social media account, he stated, “I want to understand something, Nigerians – including Bola Tinubu supporters – are set to protest against Tinubu’s governance and poor tenure, yet Peter Obi is the one to be held responsible and arrested? Okay then!
“Let’s see! Go on and attempt that arrest to witness what unfolds, thinking you are untouchable and can act with impunity. We are watching and waiting”.
