A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kogi State, Abdulrafiu Yakubu, has made a switch to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, and has taken along his supporters with him.
Yakubu declared his defection in Lokoja, stating that the PDP lacks anything substantial to offer in Kogi State.
“At times, one may feel confident about a decision, but upon reflection on the progress made, it becomes apparent that a change is necessary,” Yakubu expressed.
He continued, “My choice to rejoin the All Progressive Congress was influenced by the mentioned reasons and after thorough consultations with my constituents.
“I have always identified as a progressive. We have made efforts to advance the welfare of our people. Our objectives align completely with those of the ruling All Progressive Congress.
“The need for genuine political collaboration is to unite with like-minded progressives, hence, I have been urged to rejoin the All Progressive Congress due to my progressive stance.
“This is why we have come back to the APC with our numerous supporters, numbering in the thousands. This moment signals the start of positive developments in line with the goals set by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the party’s leadership. Our rejoining is to contribute towards the party’s agenda as committed progressives.
“View my return as a collaboration for progress. Consider my reunion with the party as a setback for the opposition and a benefit for the All Progressive Congress because every loss presents a gain, just as every gain involves a loss, signifying the end of one phase and the start of another.
“This presents a fresh start and I am pleased to be back where I truly belong,” he declared.
