The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, is mourning the passing of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Asiya Gauyama.
Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, conveyed the sad news in a statement released in Abuja on Monday.
Expressing condolences to Ganduje and his wife, Prof Hafsatu Ganduje, Olofu revealed that a funeral prayer will be held in Kano today followed by her burial according to Islamic traditions.
In the statement, it was mentioned that, “Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama, the beloved mother of Prof Hafsatu Ganduje, the wife of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has passed away.
“Gauyama was a respected figure known for her dedication to family, community, and faith. Her demise is not only a loss to her immediate family but also to all who cherished her. The funeral prayer will take place today at 2 pm at Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s residence on Miyangu Road in Kano state.
“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Prof Hafsatu and her family during this trying period, on behalf of the national chairman and the entire APC. We stand with them in thoughts and prayers as they cope with this time of sorrow and bereavement.
“May Allah grant Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama eternal peace and grant solace to her family and well-wishers.”
Gauyama’s demise follows closely after Vice President Kashim Shettima recently mourned the loss of his mother-in-law, Maryam Albishir.
The 69-year-old matriarch passed away in Kano on Sunday evening after battling a prolonged illness.
