Delroy Lindo Takes On Harlem’s Kitchen

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Delroy Lindo has traded in his CBS All Access pass for a lead role in the ABC drama Harlem’s Kitchen. The actor decided the fourth season of The Good Fight will be his last, and will now play, per the report, “a renowned chef who runs a fine-dining restaurant in Harlem with his three daughters.”

“My time working on The Good Fight has been a rich and rewarding collaboration with Robert and Michelle King,” Lindo said in announcing his departure. “The lines of communication between us have always been open and respectful, and that’s made the journey of creating Adrian Boseman deeply gratifying. A heartfelt thank you to Robert and Michelle, [executive producer and director] Brooke Kennedy and the formidable and stellar ensemble of actors, who have also contributed deeply to my joy working on The Good Fight.”

Harlem’s Kitchen will see the veteran actor play Ellis Rice, a famous chef who serves the residents of Harlem’s Kitchen, all of whom are considered family — so long as they play by his rules. Together with his wife CC and three daughters, Ellis will strive to pass on his legacy.

Zahir McGhee will executive produce the pilot with Mandeville’s Laurie Zaks, Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman and chef Marcus Samuelsson, on whom the character of Ellis is loosely based. Stephen Williams (Watchmen) will direct.

Lindo has starred in a number of high-profile films including Spike Lee’s Malcolm X, Get Shorty, Ransom, as well as TV shows Kidnapped and The Chicago Code.
