Eze Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse

An ordeal unfolded for Eze Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, a traditional ruler in Rivers State, who found himself stripped of his role as chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council by the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, while the former was battling for his life in the ICU.

Awuse was removed from his post by Fubara on June 21 for alleged inactivity and lack of effective leadership over the council during his tenure, succeeding the appointment made by the previous governor, Nyesom Wike.

Subsequently, Awuse was replaced by Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, the Paramount Ruler of Apara Kingdom.

In response to these actions, Awuse expressed dissatisfaction with the accusations brought against him by the governor, revealing his six-month struggle with a critical illness.

During a recent visit from Wike, whom Awuse supported during his election campaign, the traditional ruler from Emohua Local Government Area reflected on his contributions and commitment to Fubara’s political journey despite the recent turn of events.

Awuse lamented the treatment he received while incapacitated, asserting his trust in Fubara and his unwavering support during the election campaigns, only to be dismissed during a critical moment in his health battle.

Expressing his disappointment, Awuse highlighted the lack of support he felt from those he had dedicated himself to, emphasizing the unjustifiable actions taken against him by the government during his time of need.

In dismissing the governor’s claims of his alleged unreliability and instability, Awuse sought to rectify the tarnished image cast upon him, asserting his resilience and character despite the unfavorable circumstances.
