Former US President Donald Trump is reportedly set to be treated like any other suspect after being indicted in connection with a $130,000 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. According to Mail Online, Trump will be read his Miranda rights, fingerprinted, and have his mug shot taken. It is unlikely that he will be subjected to a ‘perp walk’, where suspects are led out of the police station or the Manhattan District Attorney’s office in handcuffs in front of the media. Instead, he is expected to enter the building surrounded by aides and Secret Service agents, and may even make a deal with prosecutors to come in via a back entrance.
Local state and federal law enforcement are now preparing for the influx of Trump supporters and liberal protesters expected to gather at the DA’s office. Trump is charged with payments his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, sent to Stormy Daniels near the end of his 2016 campaign. Prosecutors claim that this payment violated campaign finance laws and was made to keep Daniels quiet about her alleged affair with the former president. Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels, and on March 18th he called for his supporters to protest the matter. He will be the first president arrested since Ulysses S. Grant was stopped for speeding in his horse and buggy in 1872, but was let off with a fine.
