DStv Slashes Decoder Prices by 50% – Act Fast!

MultiChoice Cuts DStv Decoder Price By 50 To Attract Subscribers (via Primetweets)

MultiChoice Nigeria has revealed a significant 50% discount on its DStv decoder, bringing the price down from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000.

This initiative is intended to lure in more subscribers and address the issue of declining user numbers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the CEO, John Ugbe, expressed that this offer seeks to reward loyal customers while enhancing the overall value provided to subscribers.

“Our goal is to ensure that customers recognize their value and can enjoy top-notch entertainment every day. The ‘We Got You’ campaign emphasizes increased accessibility to premium content, affirming that DStv caters to diverse tastes, not solely to sports enthusiasts.

“By redefining itself as a source of daily value, DStv aspires to foster exploration of varied content like films, dramas, children’s shows, and news.

“This translates to a broader selection of channels, additional programs, and countless reasons to engage with us daily,” the announcement continued.

The company has also introduced a special promotion, offering a complimentary upgrade to a higher DStv package tier if current subscribers settle their payments in full between June 16 and July 31, 2025.

MultiChoice attributed the price reduction and free upgrade offer to the noticeable economic pressures affecting Nigerians’ daily lives.

This announcement follows the loss of 1.4 million subscribers from March 2023 to March 2025.

Additionally, it is worth noting that MultiChoice Nigeria had previously raised the prices of its DStv and GOtv packages three times within a single year—first in April 2023, then again in November 2023, and a subsequent increase announced in April 2024, which took effect on May 1.
