A 20-year-old Nigerian man, Confidence Igori, has been missing for months and now his family is making demands.
The man’s family has demanded for justice over the disappearance of their son at the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centre in Benin City, Edo State.
The victim’s sister told SaharaReporters that Igori was last seen on the school premises on October 7, 2023.
She accused the rehabilitation center of being responsible for the disappearance of her brother, noting that the centre did not declare him missing nor call any member of the family to alert them of the development until she got there on the November 19 to celebrate his birthday.
She said; “I need justice for my brother, Confidence Igori. I don’t know what Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centre has done to my brother.
“He got missing since October 7 and we weren’t informed until I went to visit him on the 19 of October to celebrate his birthday with him because his birthday was November 15.
“I went with cake and pack of malt, on getting there I was told my brother was no longer there, so I asked them what happened. They told me they did not know that he had been missing since October 7, 2023. They didn’t even call any of us.
“I went to Esigie Police Station in Benin to report matter and I was told to wait for Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centre to report first. I have been to the station more than three times without success.
“I need justice for my brother; whatever they have done to him I don’t know because my brother doesn’t leave home; they should tell us what they did to my brother, he is the only brother I have,” she lamented.
When the coordinator of the centre, Ime Akpan, was contacted by SaharaReporters, he said he knew nothing about the incident, adding that he was new at the centre.
“I don’t know anything about the incident, I am new here, but I am aware that the police is investigating the matter,” he said.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the state command, Chidi Nwabuzor, told SaharaReporters that the case has not been reported.
