Five Men Burned to Death in Onitsha After Alleged Attempted Tricycle Theft (Graphic)

On Saturday, March 25, 2023, five men were burned to death in Onitsha, Anambra State after they allegedly attempted to steal a tricycle from its owner. The incident occurred on Old Nkpor Road, close to the headquarters of People’s Club. An eyewitness reported that the suspects were caught in the act and a mob gathered to punish them. Despite pleas to call the police, the mob stripped the men naked and beat them before setting them on fire with old tyres and fuel. Graphic videos of the incident were posted on social media, showing one of the suspects screaming “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” as he cried for help. This tragic event has sparked outrage among many who are questioning what gives anyone the right to take a life.
