Four lawmakers from the Imo State House of Assembly have been suspended due to suspicions of planning to impeach the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe. The suspended members are Samuel Otuibe from Ahiazu-Mbaise, Henry Agbasonu from Ezinihitte-Mbaise, Chidiebere Ogbunikpa from Okigwe, and Dominic Ezerioha from Oru-West.
The Speaker revealed that the decision to suspend the members was made during an executive session. Additionally, all standing Committees that belonged to the suspended legislators have been removed from them. A minor reshuffling of the standing Committees was carried out by the Speaker during the plenary.
Although some of the suspended members were present during the announcement, they chose not to comment to the press.
