Recently, Kano State Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf let go of 14 members of the press team who were covering the Government House.
Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor’s spokesperson, delivered this news to the affected journalists, instructing them to return to their organizations for reassignment.
While the message did not detail the reasons behind the accreditations being revoked, it was relayed through the Government House crew’s WhatsApp group, urging the recipients to comply with the new directive effective Tuesday.
“Esteemed members of the press, I want to take this moment to express gratitude for your exemplary work over the past year or so,” he stated.
“Regrettably, while I was attending a conference in the Republic of Serbia last week, some developments arose that compelled the leadership to make this significant decision.
“This, however, does not mark the end of our professional relationship. We will continue to engage as colleagues in both official and personal capacities. We’ve determined that the crew’s membership requires updating,” the memo quoted Bature as saying.
The names of the crew members being replaced include Aliyu Yusuf, the Director of Public Enlightenment; Sani Suraj Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer; and Adamu Dabo, the crew chairman representing Government House for Pyramid Radio (FRCN).
Further, the list includes Naziru Yau from ARTV; Sadiq Sani AA, an ARTV cameraman; Rabiu Sunusi from Triumph; Umar Sheka of Freedom Radio; Jabir Dan’abba from Nasara Radio; Labara Sound, an AIT cameraman; Nasiru Danhaki of NTA; Abdullahi Sule, the Crew Driver; Murtala Baba Kusa from Express Radio; and Ibrahim Muazzam from Radio Kano.
“The members listed are to report back to their respective organizations for reassignment,” Bature concluded.
